Community
The Royal Commission plays a role in developing strong communities in Wales by making available knowledge and information about the historic environment, through all our services, to build awareness of local distinctiveness and foster a sense of pride. We work with partners to provide local interpretation through publications, exhibitions and site panels in many communities across Wales. We aim to assist local authorities’ Community Strategies and to work to support the operation of the Welsh Assembly Government’s Communities First programme for the most deprived areas in Wales and the digital exclusion initiative, Communities@One.
If you would like to find out about a particular community, you can find tours and trails and other information about particular areas and places . You can search Coflein, our online database of archaeological sites and historic buildings, which links to research studies, aerial photography and other records that we can provide from the National Monuments Record.
We may be able to support community heritage groups and other bodies promoting understanding of heritage in the community by offering talks by our specialist staff or group visits to our reading room, participating in partnership projects to study and record local heritage, or providing assistance with interpretation.
